Learn more about Haywood Pantries Outreach:
Annually, Haywood Pantries helps feed, clothe and care for tens of thousands of people. Haywood Pantries offers no barrier resources, free, nutritious food available 24/7 in our 16 pantry locations, free clothing events, financial aid for struggling families, community outreach to bridge the gaps of transportation, income and disability limitations, and so much more.
A few of the actions we take to protect our community and nurture the next generation are:
- Back to School events where we give away free school supplies, book bags, designer shoes and brand new clothing. We also supply teachers with a surplus of school supplies on their annual lists, disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer.
- Haywood Pantries operates almost two dozen free food pantries that are open 24/7 with no barrier access.
- We host regular free clothing events to provide professional attire for job interviews, clothing for growing children, size inclusive options for all body types, weather appropriate clothing, work clothes, every day outfit staples, socks & underwear.
- We deliver food and necessities to housebound neighbors. Whether they are housebound due to disability or lack of transportation, we make sure no one is hungry or without essentials like shampoo, soap and toilet paper.
- We work around the clock to connect community members with resources for social programs, financial aid, harm reduction, education and other supports to help them navigate complex systems – and we bridge the gaps between those systems whenever possible.
- Provide cleaning supplies, air filters, disability aids like handrails and shower seats, and home repair supplies to the public to ensure everyone has a means to a clean, safe home.
- We host regular community events around Haywood County to ensure everyone has access to food and cleaning supplies.
- Our volunteer ran free store provides food, clothing, housewares, medical supplies, hygiene products, baby formula and diapers, pet supplies, and more to the community, at no cost, with no barriers.
We have reshaped what community care looks like in rural Southern Appalachia, and we invite you to join us.
